What's New

Grandparents working with Austic children

Two dogs complete training for autism:

After over a year of training in each case, Sam and Bennie are living in the homes of their children with autism.  Both are chocolate labs.  The placements are considered very successful by the families.  They are assisting their children in many ways including  interrupting stimming behavior, alarming on children’s exit from safe area of home property, companionship, and accompanying the children in public.  SOS continues to be involved in partnership with North Star Foundation with the training of two, soon to be three, other puppies: two chocolate labs and a golden retriever.

ABA Clinic goes year-round after the Summer of Hope

During the initial ten week clinic held during the summer of 2007, fourteen children were tremendously benefited by the ABA therapy given. Because of this success and the unavailability of this scientifically proven learning took for children with Autism, we are continuing the program. The year-round clinic begins in January, 2008 housed through the blessing of Surfside Presbyterian Church at no rental cost and funded by SOS and tuition fees from private and government sources. Supervision is by local certified ABA Counselor, Jay Cole of Applied Behavioral Services.

If you have a child with Autism and are interested in our ABA Clinic, please see our letter introducing the clinic (ABA Clinic Letter and fill out our application (ABA Clinic Application). If you have any questions, please call 449-0554.
